Halloween and your kids dental health
Some after Halloween tips….
Beware of candies that are chewy or sticky. Caramels, sugary gum, taffy and hard candies can stick to the tooth’s surface for a longer period of time, increasing the risk of tooth decay.
After Halloween festivities, allow kids to pick out a few of their favorite types of candy. Parents can then discard the rest or donate it to a local food bank.
Candy should be viewed as a special treat, not as a substitute for healthier snacks and meals. Designate a certain time when candy is allowed, like after a meal.
The holiday season starts soon after Halloween. It’s a good time to schedule dental appointments before the hectic holiday season kicks off.
Still the best defense against tooth decay is brushing 3 times per day and also daily flossing.
